what i wore...schmancy

I recently went to the [Austin] Renegade Craft Fair. One of my favorite handmade clothing booths, Make It Good, had returned and I couldn't help but buy a couple pieces. This is officially my favorite skirt for the summer. The material is soft and stretchy, and has a cute [and mathematical!] print. Plus, the waist is foldable and can be worn a few different ways.

body art - henna

my friend has discovered something else she is really good at.

I will have to show you what it looks like once it dries. :)

p.s. you can see more of her work in last week's road trip to austin post.

This week has been pretty insane at work. I am glad I posted tons of instagram shots over the weekend because my week shots are....weak. har har.
Also - I have been very bad and pretty much quit photo-a-day May. Perhaps I will post a ton one day to catch up. One more week of school/work left! WOOHOO!!

My weekend started with a trip to the airport. I had an interview to become a "trusted traveler." I pretty much get to skip customs lines now. hooray!
THEN derby bout #3! It was a really exhilarating game to watch. Photos soon.

On Sunday I traveled to Austin with some friends. You can read about it here.

The return to trip to Austin was late at night. I was so sleepy that I crashed at my parents' instead of going home. It was closer. There, I found this gem. Love my mom's vintage Cuba photos. :)

Somehow I found myself with some free time. WEIRD. So Daniel and I went on a last minute "date" of sorts.
To Lovinghut and the dog park! :)

I mentioned being busy at work? Three days were consumed by training. I suppose it will come in useful. Unlike my discovery of a secret bathroom that made for some break time potty WINS. Wait time? ZERO. :) Okay, well I guess that is slightly useful...

Then I was reminded that the world thinks I am getting old. And so does my mom.

p.s. BLOWFISH SHOES giveaway goin' on!

May Sponsor Showcase :)

We think personal style is just another form of self-expression, and we make shoes for creative girls who can put together a look with effortless originality. Blowfish takes a break from the ordinary and a cue from the past. There’s something unexpected in every shoe we create, just as there’s something unexpected about every girl who wears them.

I'm a voracious thrifter, music aficionado, heathen, and owner of a 1984 Westfalia Vanagon. I'm a writer and a designer, but mostly just a secret cat lady. Vanagon Champion is about all of these things with a little bit of thrifty goodness and old-fashioned magic for good measure.

My name is marci and I live in Austin, Texas. I spend my time sewing colorful felt and fabric plushies, accessories and fun home decorations for Dreaming in Craft. When I’m not sewing up cuteness I like to blog about things that inspire me.

I like cats, crafts, and crazy calamities!  That last part is not true, I just wanted to use the word calamity.

Hello! My name is Alejandra and I'm a fine artist/metalsmith/creative entrepreneur, wife, and pet mama.  Reigrüche Studio is all about collecting everything I love, as well as painting, jewelry, history & pouring it into handmade works.

I'm Chantilly- your friendly neighborhood singer-songwriter/ crazy cat lady.  My blog features style posts, music, and chronicles the life and times of a creative gal living in Brookyn, NY.  Most recently, I made a magical new set of recordings, which is available for listening and purchase on my bandcamp page!

Heyo!  I'm Holly & I love olives, sangria, David Bowie, Keith, & sheep.  So I'll probably mention those 5 things a lot on my blog.  Plus my “list” of things I want to do in my lifetime, photos of my sweet dog Squirt, food of delicious meals I’ve eaten or made, lots of tea talk, knitting & crocheting projects I’ve done, and just everyday life things.  Hope you enjoy!
Please give these folks some mouse love. They are all pretty swell - or else I wouldn't back them. ;-)

what i wore - summertime is here!

I don't know about you, but it. is. HOT. I usually try not to bust out the shorts while I am still this pale, but dang!
Just gotta keep cool somehow. :)
Isn't this a cozy looking top? You may have seen me wearing a similar outfit in the Austin roadtrip post.
Check some more photos [as well as a couple shoe options!] in my guest post over at This Creative Life. ;-)

road trippin' to renegade atx

This past weekend, after my bout, Maria, Will, and I road tripped to Austin, TX. :)
I was kind of bummed that morning and it was a great way to take my mind off things. As soon as I hopped in the car, Maria surprised me with this amazing necklace - totally made my day.
The drive too Austin is only 2.5 hours - it feels like nothin'! Especially since Will and I went to UT, so we are used to the drive. :)

First stop? Momoko's!

And then?

I am really excited to post photos of my purchases. I have already given the gifts away, but there's still my goodies! ;)

Do you recognize the umbrellas?? Check the side bar ;-)

After a quick bite and some South Congress walking, we hit up a friend's bar  - Workhorse. It is brand spankin' new and extremely chill. Maria practiced her henna while we all sat around drinking beers and hangin' out. And eating. The food is delish! :)

Workhorse Bar - Austin, TX

I totally missed the eclipse :(
And the drive to Houston was freaky without a moon! It was pitch black out there. But we obviously made it home safe. :)
Thanks to Will & Maria for an amazing day trip!
