In 2011, I dorked out severely, and dressed up as a character from a book for Halloween. At the time, my costume was questioned by almost everyone. Those that recognized "Katniss" gave me the ol' nerd nod.
Okay, I made that up. Maybe it was more of a high five.
Obviously now, Katniss Everdeen is the well known character of Hunger Games, the movie...and this post has been getting quite a few hits. Why? 'Tis the year of the Katniss Kostume!
So I figured I'd break it down for y'all.
-The jacket is the only piece I actually owned. I bought it in 2007 at Nordstrom. Obviously a more accurate one, based off movie Katniss, would be some sort of black windbreaker.
-Mockingjay pin I ordered with a book set from Scholastic. They are all over the place now. Hot Topic perhaps?
-Shirt, pants, and belt are from a little mall boutique. Something along the lines of Agaci or Forever 21.
-Boots are Guess from a department store.
-Bow and arrow are from a costume warehouse - Frankel in downtown Houston.
-"Dirt" is brown eyeshadow.
-Hair...mine. Those are some mad crazy side braid skills, eh?
That's the gist! If you decide to be Katniss for Halloween, may the odds be ever in your favor.

Wow, you are so ahead of the times doing Katniss last year! Your costume looks great too.
ReplyDeleteI actually prefer the leather jacket to the windbreaker. I think this costume is Katniss before getting in the games like just happily hunting in the woods with Gale. :) Very nice job! I really do love this costume. Makes me want to reread the trilogy again! :)
