renegade austin 2011!

last year i went to renegade and it was awesome. there was even a marching band! and all the booths were so amazing!
this year was okay.....i participated as a vendor. it didn't seem like there were as many people as when i came through as a customer...and no marching band :(
i didn't see too many rad displays either. BUT i still had a lot of fun :)
maria and i shared a booth, and renee and josh were our neighbors [hooray!].
we were in the back corner, but i noticed that most of my purchases came from that area [even after i explored the rest of the place!], which means there was some pretty sweet stuff hidden away by us... :)
i met a few blog friends - and sadly didn't get photos with all of them. lame! i kinda forgot, even though my camera was slung over my shoulder most of the time.
i was walkin' around with my "grr" headband and got a request for "meep." it didn't take too long at all :)
from afar my banner looked pretty sweet. pay no attention to the crazy vertical lines...
maria's paintings were amazing! there were so many, too!
my fave roboroku item..i love these rings so much!
the boys were amazing. they lifted, hauled, drove, and put together an amazing pvc pipe booth!
we appreciated their help greatly!

so i'm not sure i will do renegade next year. but i will definitely visit as a customer :)

what i wore to work....socks!

While I was in NYC a couple weeks ago, I visited H&M for the second time within the span of a month. This is extremely rare seeing as there still isn't an H&M in Texas! I perused the sock aisle a bit and found these gems. The socks above probably aren't meant to be folded...but they reminded me so much of my childhood, that I thought, "what the heck!"
I was still in a sock-kinda-mood and decided to go with it. I really liked this pair - especially because they matched the design on my shirt :)
Anyways, I hope you college kids are having an awesome summer. Mine is approaching quickly! I am really excited to have some free time.
My plans include hitting the gym, sewing a bit, and roller skating a ton. There are a couple vacations mixed in between said plans, but I'll share more on that later.

What are your summer plans?? Going anywhere awesome? :)

fact: i love your dog

it's no secret that i love dogs. if you were to invite me over, and there is an animal present, i may or may not pay them more attention than you. at least temporarily. :)
a friend of mine just adopted a puppy. and she looks like buster puppy!
everyone was ignored for 30 minutes. i'm sorry!
now look at buster pup!
similar - you must admit!

anyways - time to make your heart melt [or your face...if you are charlie sheen].

food trucks!

this weekend, houston had it's very first food truck festival. i'm actually not to big on food trucks [they tend to revolve around meat], but a couple tasty discoveries in austin, tx led me to be more open minded. :)
a few friends and i made our way over on saturday around 3pm. the crowds leaving the festival wished us luck and told us the lines were extremely long and the wait [for ordered food] was even longer.
many trucks were already sold out on their most popular dishes, and my friend paula had to wait about an hour for an order. but while we waited, we went around trying other food trucks :)

honestly i only tried 2 food trucks....but they were awesome!
houston streats' avacado tacos - DELISH
it's a wrap! "casa blanca" tacos - also YUM!
so i was in a taco-y mood! what! :)

recommendations for next year.....
arrive at noon when the festival begins!
wear sunscreen&hat!
stay hydrated!
divide...and concur those trucks!

6 years

At the end of July 2005, I drove two hours to Conroe, Tx to pick up my "boxer mix" puppy.  This little one is a lot more than boxer! Golden Retriever, Chow, and Pit Bull, too ;)
Nonetheless, she was the calmest, most sweetest puppy I have ever laid eyes on.
This is the photo I saw on the web :)
I swear, Buster is special.  [I'm not just saying that!]  So many people have dubbed her the favorite. :) Buster doesn't care much for food and treats, but will do anything for a kiss or kind word, making it extremely easy to train her.  When I was taking care of a baby squirrel, Buster was very careful, and when we found a baby bird in the backyard, Buster laid near, protecting it.
My absolute favorite is when she stays behind when the other dogs run outside. Buster wants some extra lovin'...and so do I <3
I love my little Boost and I wish I could keep her forever :)

four eyes

boys seem to like my glasses. dorkwads! :)

every once in a while

Every once in a while, life becomes a bit overwhelming. And then you blog about it.
Well, here is my "OMG-all-this-stuff-is-happening-at-the-same-time-and-I'm-totally-going-crazy-in-kind-of-a-good-way" blog post :)

As previously mentioned, I went to New York City for a wedding. It was a lot of fun and I am very glad I was able to make it to see a lot of my old friends, and hang out like idiots [just like old times!].
my friends were married on the rooftop of the Kimberly Hotel [by one of my old college friends!]
They're both foodies, so the spread was amazing :)
they had a photobooth with cardboard cutouts........of a photo I took - awesomesauce!

ok so while in NYC, I only made a few purchases at H&M....I actually did most of my shopping at the airport! haha There was this amazing store called Muji and then this dang machine...
I am not going to lie. I flew home with quite the hangover. It was so great to see Daniel and my parents again! I was able to hang out with my family on Mother's Day for a couple hours, but then I had to drive out to League practice.
Because........I made the official Houston League! I am houston roller derby FRESH MEAT.
If you are friends with me on facebook, you saw this photo the night I announced it:
I received the phonecall on my 2nd day in NYC...and depicted my excitement on a restaurant table.
As fresh meat, I am not on an official team yet. There is a 2 month probationary period, and then you are drafted. We shall see what happens :) Until then I will be practicing at least 3 times a week. Which means my thighs are going to look like amazing little drumsticks! :D
There was a slight issue with my derby name [similarities to another] so i dropped the "grr" and have been going by feisty. Kinda thinkin' about feistysaurus rox, though :)
I have attended 3 practices since my return [a few of us tried 2 in one night - yikes!] and am already learning SO much.

Other than work of course, and all of this, I am going crazy preparing for
Renegade Handmade in Austin!
I need to get back on track! All the April and May travels plus derbiness has been quite the distraction.
Anyway, I plan on catching up on a lot of blog reading, crafting, & social networking tonight. I feel so out of the loop!
high quality non-cellphone photos coming soon :)
